Bruno Fernandes has hit back at reports that he’s set to
walk out on Sporting Lisbon in the next 48 hours. The 24-year-old has been
heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with both
Manchester United and Tottenham interested in the midfielder. Reports on Friday
claimed Fernandes had agreed to make a farewell appearance for Sporting in the
Super Cup against Benfica on Sunday before completing a move to England. Those
reports have appeared to irk Sporting fans and one supporter raised his issues
with Fernandes in the comments of the midfielder’s latest Instagram post.
However, Fernandes hit back at the supporter and appeared to
suggest that the reports about his future and an imminent move to England are
false. After being accused of planning a departure from the club and using
interest from elsewhere to get an improved deal, Fernandes wrote: ‘Two mistakes
in the same text. I’m glad everything the newspapers write is true isn’t it
friend?’
Both United and Spurs are interested in signing Fernandes
but a move is not thought to be as close as is being reported in Portugal.
However, time is running out for either club to force through a deal with the
English transfer window set to close on Thursday at 6pm. The Portuguese window
is open until September 2nd, meaning Fernandes can move to another European
club outside the Premier League should United or Spurs fail to sign him.
